Baltimore, MD (Sept. 8, 2026) — Highwire Improv, a non-profit theater committed to fostering creativity and community engagement through improv, is thrilled to announce a series of free improv workshops and classes across Baltimore County beginning in November 2025.
Highwire Improv aims to empower anyone to start a new hobby, make new friends, and build confidence, creativity, and community, and aims to bring free arts programming to neighborhoods across Maryland with the expansion of their Improv in Every Neighborhood program. The expansion is made possible in part by a generous grant from Open Space Arts who recently awarded Highwire Improv funding to bring free, accessible programming to Baltimore County.
Since 2023, Highwire Improv has delivered over 80 free intro-to-improv workshops, reaching more than 1,400 people across 23 neighborhoods. This grant will bring at least 12 new workshops across Baltimore County, beginning in November with workshops at Baltimore County Public Library locations:
- Catonsville Branch Library: November 7th, 2-4pm
- Owings Mills Branch Library: November 16th, 6-8pm

Highwire Improv will use grant funds to pay workshop instructors and space rental fees across the county. “We’re proud to pay teaching artists competitive rates, so the Open Space Arts grant is critical to improving accessibility to arts programming without compromising on paying creative professionals,” stated Barry Wright, Highwire Board President.
